The two cookies this site sets itself
lp_consent remembers your answer to the cookie banner, so it does not ask you on every visit. It is set whichever way you answer, stores only that answer, and expires after 12 months. Deleting it brings the banner back.
lp_viewed_posts is a session cookie that remembers which posts you have opened here, so the related-articles section does not recommend you something you just read. It contains a list of post numbers, nothing personal, never leaves this site, and disappears when you close your browser.
Analytics cookies, only if you said yes
If, and only if, you accepted the banner, Google Analytics 4 sets its own cookies to measure aggregate readership: which posts get read, on what kinds of devices, how people arrive. Decline the banner and these never exist. Google documents its cookies and retention on its own privacy pages, and the Privacy Policy here covers the arrangement.
Never on this site
No advertising cookies. No cross-site tracking. No fingerprinting, no session-replay recorders, no social-media pixels. The banner’s promise is the practice: analytics with your consent, and nothing else.
Affiliate links and merchant cookies, for later
At launch this site carries no active affiliate links. When they become active, clicking one takes you to the merchant’s site, where the merchant may set cookies to credit the referral under its own policy. Those are the merchant’s cookies on the merchant’s site; they are described here in advance so nothing about the practice is a surprise.
Managing cookies
Every browser can view and delete cookies per site. Deleting this site’s cookies costs you nothing except answering the banner again and, possibly, seeing a related-article suggestion for something you already read. Questions: [email protected].
